Cancellation Policy (Right of Withdrawal)
Language: English | Deutsch
Last updated: 31 August 2026
This policy applies to consumers who order from our shop. It explains your right to cancel, how to use it, and the one case where it does not apply: a digital edition you have asked us to deliver immediately.
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from your order within 14 days without giving any reason.
For a print copy, the period runs for 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party named by you other than the carrier, take possession of the copy. If you pre-ordered, the period still starts when the copy reaches you, not when you placed the order.
For a digital edition, the period runs for 14 days from the day the contract is concluded, which is the moment your payment is confirmed. Please read “Digital editions” below, because this right normally ends as soon as we make your download available.
How to cancel
To withdraw, tell us clearly that you wish to do so. An email is enough, and it does not have to give a reason. Write to:
WAYF Journal — Sahra Malin and Suad Kamardeen
Boxhagener Str. 81
10245 Berlin
Germany
Email: wayfjournal@gmail.com
You may use the model form at the end of this page, but you do not have to. To meet the deadline it is enough that you send your notice before the 14 days are up.
Effects of cancellation
If you withdraw, we refund every payment we received from you, including the shipping cost you paid, without undue delay and at the latest within 14 days of the day we receive your notice.
We refund using the same means of payment you used for the original transaction, and you will not be charged any fee for the refund.
Where a print copy is involved, we may withhold the refund until we have received the copy back, or until you have supplied proof that you have sent it back, whichever happens first.
Returning a print copy
Send the copy back to the address above without undue delay, and in any event no later than 14 days from the day you told us you were withdrawing. The deadline is met if you dispatch the copy before those 14 days are up.
You bear the direct cost of returning the copy.
You are only liable for any loss in value of the copy where that loss results from handling it beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition.
Digital editions and instant downloads
A digital edition is delivered the moment your payment goes through, so before you check out we ask you to confirm two things: that you want us to start delivery immediately, and that you understand you lose your right of withdrawal once the download is available to you.
When you have given that confirmation and we have made your download available, your right of withdrawal for that digital edition is gone. This follows § 356(5) of the German Civil Code (BGB), and Regulation 37 of the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If you would rather keep your right of withdrawal, do not tick the confirmation. Email us instead and we will arrange for your digital edition to be sent after the 14-day period has passed.
This affects the digital edition only. A print copy in the same order keeps its full 14-day right.
Cancelling a pre-order before it is dispatched
Print copies that are sold out are dispatched within one month of your order. You do not have to wait for the copy to arrive to change your mind: email us at any time before dispatch and we will cancel the order and refund you in full.
If something arrives damaged or does not arrive
Your right to cancel sits alongside your statutory rights where an order is faulty, damaged or never arrives. Those rights are not limited by this policy. Write to us and we will put it right.
If a package is returned to us because it could not be delivered or was not collected, we refund the amount you paid for the journal, excluding shipping costs, within one month of the copy reaching us.
Customers in the United Kingdom
If you order from the UK, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you an equivalent 14-day right to cancel, including the same exception for digital content you asked to receive straight away. The procedure described above applies to you in the same way.
Model cancellation form
You may, but need not, use this form. Copy it into an email or send it by post.
